One Small Step for the EcoSport, One Giant Leap for Ford

Those who follow our favorite automaker closely know that Ford has been scheming to increase its world-wide reach. In 2011, the automaker stretched its arms to Russia where it vamped up production of the Ford Explorer and Ford Transit Van. Taking its global goals in to 2012, Ford recently rolled out a new compact sport-utility vehicle in India and with it, a few brand firsts as well.

Revealed to the public at the New Delhi Auto Expo, the Ford EcoSport is a new version of the South American model that was launched in 2003. Based off some of the framework of the Ford Fiesta, the revamped EcoSport will hold down footing in Brazil and India. Unlike anything that the Blue Oval has previously released, the compact SUV will be the first to run off a new three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

In the future, Ford hopes to take this small utility vehicle with its small engine to some pretty big markets across the world. In fact, a plan to increase global sales by 50-percent by 2015 is resting heavily on the EcoSport and other new Ford models. The newly released 1.0-liter EcoBoost Ford engine will also spread its fuel-saving superpowers across countries such as China, Europe and North America.
