Most people know Ford as a leading, American-born automaker. But we could also refer to the company as an ever-flowing fountain of technology and innovation. Sound a bit dramatic? Perhaps. Plantation Ford, however, has good reason to say this. In the past few months alone, the Blue Oval has pumped out consumer-friendly new hybrid models, pioneered elliptical acoustic mirror technology to lower in-vehicle noise and, oh yea, was dubbed "Most Innovative Automaker" by AutoTrader.com.

Ford Takes Green Technology to the Floor

Many water-consumers (aka humans) are ditching the plastic bottle in favor of more eco-friendly options such as Kleen Kanteens or Nalgenes. Yet despite the fact that these options are greener and cheaper, not all have made the switch. We know this because it's almost impossible to go a day without seeing a plastic water bottle tossed onto the street or left behind at the office. It seems these little landfill dwellers just won't disappear. Thankfully, Ford has found a home for them that would make Mother Earth proud.

Ford Gains 15% Fuel Economy for 2013

Though the 2012 Ford Fusion already gets an estimated 41 mpg city driving, Ford it determined to outdo themselves once again. The automaker is aiming to increase the fuel economy of the 2013 Fusion by 15 percent. 2012 Ford Focus Takes 5th Place in Under 20/Over 35 Shootout

Ford Goes Green in Michigan

Ford Motor Co. recently completed a $550 million renovation at its assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan which was originally used to produce low-on-fuel-economy SUV's for Ford. The plant will now be used to construct future electric, hybrid and other next-generation vehicles. For the time being, the plant will mainly produce the Ford Focus hybrid and electric variants. Ford Focus Goes Recyclable

American carmaker, Ford, announced it has used recycled pants and shirts to cover some parts of the new Ford Focus interior. Certain areas of the car, like the carpet backing and sound-absorption materials, are made from cottons squeezed out of recycled clothing.

"One of our key goals is to use more recycled or renewable materials without compromising performance or durability," Carrie Majeske, the company's product sustainability manager, said in the statement....
